Strange Way of Life
“Will take our breath away right before galloping into the sunset.” – Los Angeles Times
“The richly acted, sumptuously photographed Strange Way of Life lives up to its title as a revisionist Western that embraces its classical genre roots while also carving out a very modern way of looking at the past.” – Observer
“It’s a provocative movie that brings out the best in both of its leads, and feels like the filmmaker is having fun playing around with these genre tropes, even if he’s not being the least bit ironic in his use of them.” – Rolling Stone
A man rides a horse across the desert that separates him from Bitter Creek. He comes to visit Sheriff Jake. Twenty-five years earlier, both the sheriff and Silva, the rancher who rides out to meet him, worked together as hired gunmen. Silva visits him with the excuse of reuniting with his friend from his youth, and they do indeed celebrate their meeting, but the next morning Sheriff Jake tells him that the reason for his trip is not to go down the memory lane of their old friendship.
