Spatials Essays on Us, the People
Real Art Ways presents Spatials Essays on Us, the People, a solo exhibition by Hanieh Kashani.
The exhibition will be installed for one week in Suite 106 at 56 Arbor Street. We will share details for parking and navigating the building before opening night (Friday, September 18, 6:30-8:30 pm) as well as the closing night performance (Thursday, September 24, 6-8 pm). About the artist
Hanieh Kashani is an Iranian interdisciplinary and experimental artist from Tehran. She holds a B.Sc. in Physics from Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran and an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Connecticut. She has recently begun her Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her practice examines how regimes of exclusion and imposed unity shape experiences of selfhood and otherness, rootedness and displacement.
She works across installation, performance, video, sculpture, and text to develop relational and processual cartographies in dialogue with present, imagined, or absent sites. Through these works, she explores how social and political violence is lived in and through bodies, intimate spaces, and the public realm of everyday life, while opening space for multiple narratives and radically imagining plural forms of living and belonging.
