Hartford, Connecticut - Sex, chocolate, death. Two women share the same man and the same recipe in Hunger, a new play that explores obsession, narcissism and consumerism. Audiences at Hunger will be immersed in an intoxicating world of desserts, desire and excess in a unique and unconventional look at who we are as Americans.

The world premiere of Hunger, a new work from Bated Breath Theatre Company, will run from Friday, September 16 through Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Real Art Ways, which is committed to promoting the creation of new work. Max Restauraunt Group is supporting the play by creating and donating the profiteroles.

The evening begins as the audience participates in a wine tasting and ends in a shared feast of cream and chocolate. Hunger is a story that will appeal to all adults with a curious mind and eager palate. This is an experience as much as it is a play.

Bated Breath Theatre Company is committed to celebrating the diversity of Greater Hartford audiences through groundbreaking work. Made possible through the Greater Hartford Arts Council, The City of Hartford, the University of Connecticut and the Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation.

About Bated Breath Theatre Company

Bated Breath Theater Company is a registered 501(c)3 non profit company founded in 2008 by six theatre artists eager to bring a new style of work to Greater Hartford audiences. Bated Breath Theatre Company rethinks classics and devises new plays to produce experiential work that engages the audience in non-traditional spaces.

In 2008, Bated Breath Theatre Company produced a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House at the Gene Frankel Theatre, NYC with funding from The Marks Family Endowment in Fine Arts and the University of Connecticut. Variety called it "Compelling!" and Curtain Up said, "It shouldn't be missed!"

In 2010, Bated Breath Theatre Company devised The Parkville Project inspired by the history and immigrant experience in Parkville. The world premiere opened at The Playhouse on Park using physical theatre, music, and puppetry in a piece that captured the zeitgeist. The Parkville Project was funded by The United Arts Campaign, the Marks Family Endowment in Fine Arts and the University of Connecticut.
