TRINIDAD'S 12 THE BAND PLAYS AT REAL ART WAYS

Hartford, Connecticut – Real Art Ways presents a live performance by 12 The Band. The twelve-piece group was formed in 1999 by Sheldon Holder and presents an eclectic mash of musical styles popular in Trinidad and Tobago, such as calypso, jazz, reggae, and rock. The performance is part of Creative Cocktail Hour on Thursday, March 18 from 6-10 PM. Admission to the event is $10/$5 for Real Art Ways members. 12 The Band completed its debut album Streets and Avenues in June 2008 and performed live at Caribbean Fashion Week in Jamaica. Following this performance, they went on to perform at the London Calling Music Conference in London. In addition, 12 The Band had the distinguished pleasure of being captured in the BBC 2 radio documentary on Caribbean life and music hosted by renowned British recording artist Joan Armatrading, as well as being published in the London Telegraph. Joan described the group as "one of the great undiscovered talents of the Caribbean."
The performance is a part of Real Art Ways’ Rockstone and Bootheel, a multdisciplinary exhibition of contemporary West Indian art. The exhibition runs through Sunday, March 14, with a closing reception from 2-4 PM.
