Dish II: Second Course
Tales from the Front of House

Monday, January 12, 2009
7 PM; FREE

Hartford, Connecticut – Real Art Ways presents Dish II: Second Course, a discussion and tasting with restaurant professionals about the Front of House moderated by Rand Richards Cooper (Bon Appétit).  This free event is on Monday, January 12 beginning at 7 PM.  Real Art Ways is located at 56 Arbor Street in Hartford’s Parkville neighborhood. For more information call 860.232.1006 or visit realartways.org.

In 2006, Real Art Ways presented DISH: the inside scoop on eating out, featuring a discussion and tasting with the area’s most outstanding chefs and restaurateurs. This time we will feature a selection of top-notch Front of House staff from some of Hartford’s best restaurants.

Rand Richards Cooper of Bon Appetit will moderate the panel and lead a discussion about the hospitality side of the industry: forming relationships with customers, dealing with cranky guests, creating an atmosphere, and everything else that goes into creating a perfect Front of House experience, including stories of some not-so-perfect moments.  In addition to the discussion, each participating restaurant will provide a dish for the pre-discussion tasting.

Joining Rand Richards Cooper will be:

  • Dan Meiser of Firebox

  • Courtney Febbroriello, author of Wife of the Chef and co-owner of Metro Bis

  • Brian Smith, Greater Hartford's Best Bartender, Max's Oyster Bar

  • Paul Kelly, Carbone's Restaurant

  • LB Muñoz, Real Art Ways

  • Steven Abrams, managing partner for Max Downtown.
