HARTFORD, CT: June 29, 2006 –Artist Sarah Bereza will exhibit her work, “The Conquests,” in Real Art Ways’ Real Room Thursday, July 20 through Monday, August 14, 2006. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, July 20 from 6-9pm during Real Art Ways’ monthly Creative Cocktail Hour. Real Art Ways is located at 56 Arbor Street in the Parkville neighborhood of Hartford. Admission to the Creative Cocktail Hour is $8 (free for Real Art Ways Members). After the reception date, admission to the exhibit is free. For more information visit www.realartways.org or call 860.232.1006.

Bereza draws upon her experience as a sorority girl, as well as the friendship, camaraderie, sex and violence that surrounds the sorority as a group. Her oil paintings depict the girls in sexually charged and confident poses. The paintings’ frames include horns and antlers, as if the display of each of these girls is a trophy, or conquest.

“ The salacious underside of this traditional and exclusive community continues to fascinate me,” says Bereza.

Bereza graduated with a BFA from the University of Michigan in 2001 and has shown her work in Michigan, New York, California and England.
