Bereza draws upon her experience as a sorority girl, as well as the
friendship, camaraderie, sex and violence that surrounds the sorority
as a group. Her oil paintings depict the girls in sexually charged
and confident poses. The paintings’ frames include horns and
antlers, as if the display of each of these girls is a trophy, or
conquest.
“
The salacious underside of this traditional and exclusive community
continues to fascinate me,” says Bereza.
Bereza graduated with a BFA from the University of Michigan in 2001
and has shown her work in Michigan, New York, California and England.
