Artists & Communities: America Creates for the Millennium is a national program engaging over 56 professional artists in communities in each state and jurisdiction of the U.S. throughout 2000.
This program was made possible by major funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Charles E. Culpeper Foundation/Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Additional support is provided by The Prudential Foundation, the Earle I. Mack Foundation, and the Brimstone Fund.
Artists & Communities is acknowledged as an official National Millennium Initiative by the National Endowment for the Arts and the White House Millennium Council.
Real Art Ways was chosen as the Connecticut host site for the project and Memories Under Construction was the result of a collaboration with artist in residence Liz Miller and the Seniors of Parkville Senior Center.
The Parkville Senior Center provides educational, health, recreational and art activities for the seniors of Parkville.
