Vance Gilbert

Vance Gilbert began his career as a jazz vocalist before making the switch to folk music. An integral part of the New England scene, Gilbert's performances feature extended guitar and vocal trappings that belie his jazz roots. Presenting serious issues of race and social justice, Gilbert's socially conscious message is matched only by the wit of his lyrics.

Funded in part by a grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts and the Creative Connections program of Meet the Composer, Inc., and with additional support from the Argosy Foundation, the six New England state arts agencies and the National Endowment for the Arts.
