Bert Crenca

Bert Crenca, artist and director of AS220 (Providence, Rhode Island), will perform Fish Cake at the opening of Shadow Show. The performance includes excerpts from the children's book President Bush was reading when he was notified about the attack on the World Trade Center, stationary bike riding, and Flaranute* playing. Fish Cake can best be described as performance art that's entertaining.

The work will be performed by Umberto Crenca and the Gillen Street Band. 35 min.

* Flaranute: an instrument believed to be invented by Umberto Crenca, the instrument combines the best parts of the flute with the best parts of the clarinet. The sound produced is cutting, sometimes melodic, but at times obnoxious.
