Marco Benevento Trio
"Me Not Me" tour

$12 Members / $15 Non-Members
"Benevento is actually a pop formalist, albeit a sneaky one, and for all his improvisational chops, a textural minimalist very much in the tradition of Brian Eno or Sigur Ros. Chaos and chance are the calling cards, but his songs are always accessible." – Bret Gladstone, Village Voice
"Multiple-choice question: What do you call a jazz-trained pianist who plays in a Led Zeppelin cover band?
A) A loser
B) Marco Benevento
If you're a jazz snob, you probably picked A. The correct answer is B, and jazz snobs take heed: We just elected a president who's about transcending petty divisions and getting the job done. And while it's not yet known whether President Obama will truly turn out to be transformative, we already know that Marco Benevento is." - David Rubien, San Francisco Chronicle
the Benevento Trio played to a sold-out theater last November. Now, he's back.
Benevento is well-known for using unconventional sounds in his compositions: he's used everything from a pump organ to a Speak N' Spell. Joining Benevento are Reed Mathis (bass) and Andrew Barr (percussion). This tour features songs from the new Trio album, Me Not Me, a mix of original compositions and covers of Leonard Cohen, Led Zeppelin, Beck, Deerhoof, among others.
