Burnt Sugar, The Arkestra Chamber

[Watch a video of Burnt Sugar]

Real Art Ways & the Hartford Jazz Society present Burnt Sugar, the last group to perform during this season of Monday Night Jazz in Bushnell Park.

Burnt Sugar, The Arkestra Chamber is the creation of
writer/guitarist/producer GregTate. Formed in 1999, the Burnt Sugar collective explores the connective tissue binding jazz, rock, funk, twentieth century composition, and African music in a lyrical, seductive, exploratory, improvisational manner.

Some praise for Burnt Sugar:

"A multiracial jam army that freestyles with cool telekinesis between the lustrous menace of Miles Davis On The Corner, the slash-and-om of 1970s King Crimson, and Jimi Hendrix moonwalk across side three of Electric Ladyland." - David Fricke, Rolling Stone

"It's electric Miles with soul, Maggot Brain with a PHD, the Hendrix Evans band of dreams, the underwater funk some hear in A.R. Kane.." - Robert Christgau, The Village Voice
